Dr. Don Reynolds
Dr. Don Reynolds is a poultry veterinarian and professor in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Dr. Reynolds recognized that the poultry industry is growing rapidly in Nebraska. In response, developed the Big Red Biosecurity Program to help producers have the greatest opportunity for success by protecting their flock from disease and their investment from the associated economic losses.
Dr. Reynolds received his B.S., D.V.M. and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University. He is a diplomate in the College of Veterinary Microbiology certified in the disciplines of bacteriology and mycology, immunology, and virology. His academic qualifications include studying under the mentorship of Dr. Y. M. Saif, perhaps the most renowned poultry disease expert in the world today. Dr. Reynolds began his academic career at Iowa State University in the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 as an assistant professor performing research in the area of poultry diseases with emphases on enteric viral diseases of poultry and Newcastle disease. He moved through the faculty ranks to become a tenured professor and is nationally and internationally known for his work in poultry diseases.
He has authored or coauthored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications, over 85 proceedings and abstracts, and 21 book chapters. Currently, he teaches veterinary and graduate students biosecurity and veterinary ethics. He has an appointment in extension/outreach and has much experience making presentations to poultry farmers and those in the poultry industry.
Dr. Matt Hille
Dr. Matt Hille is a diagnostic pathologist at the Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Center and an extension veterinarian with Nebraska Extension. His clinical experience is largely in cow/calf and feedlot medicine of beef cattle. Dr. Hille’s research interests are on infectious diseases and immunology of cattle. Dr. Hille received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Wyoming, a DVM degree from Iowa State University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.
